CNN


My favourite site:

www.cnn.com

When asked what site was my favourite or even what site I visited daily, the first thing that comes to mind is, CNN. I know it’s weird but I find the site to be very interesting and informative. It keeps me up to date on what’s going on daily in many different aspects. The web site is simple and easy to navigate. If I want to know what going on in politics I check the politics section. If I want to know what’s going on in entertainment, I click on the entertainment section.

I find the advertising on this site to be very informative. Ninety percent of the advertising on this site is either CNN’s advertising or something related to it. For example, when Haiti had an earth quake 1 year ago, the advertising on the page related to helping Haiti overcome the devastation.

Something that really bothers me about this web site is that they are contently changing their layout of the web site, not that I find it hard to navigate. While eating chapter seven I realized that maybe they should use spell check. While looking at news sites daily I have come across more spelling mistakes than any other sites (even though I’m one to talk).

Mad Women



The Egyptians may have used papyrus to make sales messages and wall posters, commercial messages and political campaign displays have been found in the ruins of Pompeii and ancient Arabia, but today advertising is a little diverse. Even in the past 50 years advertising has transformed into a modern approach in which creativity was allowed to buff, producing unexpected messages that has made advertising more tempting to consumers eyes.
For example, in 1955 the Marlboro Man campaign was formed. This ad was of a cowboy smoking a cigarette and with the word Marlboro across the bottom of the advertisement. Although these ads where marketed as a women’s cigarette they consisted of the famous, Marlboro Man. Today the world of advertising is a fast paste industry and it is changing every day. Advertising in the 50’s and 60’s were cartoon images. From black and white ads all the way into the 80’s Marlboro stuck with the cowboy theme until 1994 when they went into racing to form with the times. This campaign just shows that over time the consumers will still portray the same advertisements as 50 or even 60 years ago.

I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my idea.

Windows 7 may have not been my idea but there are many out there who beg to differ. According to Windows 7 newest campaign Windows 7 is anyone’s idea. The first Windows 7 commercial actually aired in September 2009 and since then the campaign has emerged. The ads where leading up to the launch of the newest Windows 7 product. So far the response has been epic. Windows 7 is an operating system created by you, for you, and these ads follow the flow. The campaign which is made up of TV, print ads, banner ads, posters and billboards and branded entertainment elements is very effective. This campaign has gone viral since the launch of the ads. It is effective because it is what the consumer thinks and feels. I liked this campaign because it was very memorable. I caught myself using the line..And Windows 7 was my idea on a normal basis’s. This campaign was created by Crispin Porter and Bogusky, Boulder in Miami USA. The creator of this campaign is Tim Roper and the Creative Director is Jeff Benjamin. This was Windows big come back after their worst idea ever….Windows Vista.
